Now owned by the National Railway Museum, the Flying Scotsman returned to service in February 2016 after an extensive restoration that took ten years and cost £4.5 million (compared to the original estimates of one year and £750,000). Throughout 2016 it ran special tours, including an inaugural run from King's Cross to York.
